Treehouses of Ancient Lycia - TURKEY
Next Holiday: July 20th; Shared bathroom: £365; Ensuite: £495; (see all prices and dates)
A beachside yoga holiday based in Kabak, a unique valley of wild, natural beauty. We spend the week practising yoga and investigating this beautiful area: from the mountains that soar overhead to the crystalline beaches of the Aegean sea.

Kabak is a verdant valley that sweeps from the sea and into the Toros mountain range. As well as twice-daily yoga classes we trek through lush Anatolian forests, kick back on empty beaches and enjoy the flora and fauna of this beautiful, undiscovered getaway.

Highlights

  • stay in a collection of lovely wooden treehouses and beachside bungalows
  • daily yoga in a forest surrounded by swarms of butterflies (in season)
  • explore the hills and mountains of Kabak, home to eagles, lynx, kingfishers and chameleons
  • relax on remote natural beachfronts.
  • Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Kabak
    Arrive at our Kabak accommodation.

Day 2 - Exploring the Kabak valley
Covered by a forest of pine, palm and apricot trees, Kabak also is lapped by the Aegean Sea, a tranquil, turquoise stretch of water full of hidden beaches and rocky coves. After morning yoga we offer an introductory meander through through Kabak valley, followed by lunch at a open air restaurant. Later we return to our tree-shaded yoga platform followed by dinner under the stars.

Day 3 - Walking the Lycian Way (optional)
The Lycian way, one of Turkey's most famous walking routes, threads through Kabak and into the hills. After this morning's yoga class we offer a half day's walk following this 2500 year old route - passing amid waterfalls, forest and meadows we follow in the footsteps of the Greeks, Romans, Persians all of whom passed this way. We descend with plenty of time to relax before yoga and sunset.

    Day 4 & 5– Relaxing in Kabak
Kabak also boasts a lovely beach. Indeed, follow the coast and you arrive at other, even more remote beaches - the whole coastine here is strewn with hidden, deserted treasures. As well as twice daily yoga classes these days are for your personal exploration - or you might like to have a massage and relax.

    Day 6 & 7 – Explore the Valley
Set in a protected area, Kabak has avoided large-scale development. Today it's a centre for hikers, climbers and travellers - a uniquely relaxed atmosphere on the Turkish coast. As well as daily yoga classe we offer a selection of optional activities - from paragliding to boat trips, or just kick back for a fruit cocktail or two and improve your suntan.

    Day 8 – Holiday ends

    Accommodation
We offer two accommodation options - ensuite or with shared bathrooms.

    Ensuite
Ensuite accommodation is in stlit treehouses. These are glass fronted with a sliding panel door, a bed, side cupboard and balcony with cushions and potted plants. Mosquito gauze prevents insect intrusion. Approx 4 by 4m plus bathroom. The treehouses are a 3 minute walk from the yoga platform and non-ensuite rooms.

    Shared bathrooms
Our shared bathroom bungalows are A-frame wooden huts, charmingly decorated with white muslin and pine beds, small shelving unit and mosquite nets. Approx 4 by 4m.

    Social life in Kabak
We join an itinerant community of hikers, climbers and travellers to explore the delights of this amazing valley. Our accommodation has several chillout areas and sun platforms. Social life is centred around the restaurant which serves local specialities. The camp is the closest settlement in the valley to the beach, roughly 30 metres away.

    Flights
We stay seven nights in Kabak, around 100 miles (150K) from Dalaman airport.

    Flights to Dalaman:
    Travel Supermarket
    Thomas Cook
    Easyjet
    Turkish Cyprus Airlines
    Turkish Airlines

    Visas
A 3 month tourist visa is available on arrival at all entries into Turkey. It costs £10, payable in Sterling, Euros or Turkish Lira

    Airport transfers
We arrange group transfers from Dalaman airport. Kabak is a 2 hour drive along this spectacular coastal route; on arrival at the head of the valley we then transfer into a specially padded trailer for a 20 minute drive to our treehouse camp. You can walk this bit if you wish!

    What you'll need
For our yoga sessions you'll need loose, comfortable garments; lightweight cottons and linens are ideal. Turkey can be hot: don't forget sunblock, sunglasses, a hat and a sarong. Scarves are great for keeping off the sun and any light chills at night.

Strong shoes are advisable if you wish to go hiking - otherwise sturdy beach footwear is a good idea - Kabak is still very much in its natural state and the walk to the beach can be a little uneven. Also pack: suncream, sunhat, swimwear, mosquito repellent. A snorkel is advised for swimming in the sea.

    What's included
All yoga instruction (10 classes), group airport transfers and services of a Yoga Travel tour leader. Accommodation is on a B&B basis - the camps' restaurants provide both meat and vegetarian options - via an a la carte service during the day and a set meal in the evenings. Generally your items are put on a tab which is then paid at the end of the week.

    What's not
Flights, meals other than breakfast and all optional activities. The cost of a typical meal is around 7GBP.

Optional Activities (prices are a rough guide)
1/2 day walk into the Kabak mountains (£20 including picnic lunch)
    Paragliding (£70)
Boat trip to nearby Pirates' Village and Paradise Beach (£20)
    Massage (£40)
