Accommodation - The Old Rectory
This country residence maintains Victorian grandeur with bold contemporary styling . It's the artist owner's home and lavish care is immediately evident. You might find a sclupture of a minatour atop an antique persian rug. Silver canelbabras sit easily with glass chandeliers, african sculptures next to nude statuettes.
It's a place full of discoveries and associations: a feather boa adorns a mantelpiece next to an african mask and a bone; antlers and a pair of snakeskin high heels adorn a table, overlooked by a picutre of a madonna, next to a fez. What on earth could all this mean?
Outside, gravel paths meander through the tiered garden, through a hedged tunned to reveal a swimming pool surrounded by rocking charis. As well as a infrared sauna and a tennis court there are also several chill out areas - a fire-warmed drawing room, an aga-heated kitchen, a gym, and a games room.
The venue has been used for celebrity retreats and are used to high profile individuals.
Rooms
As you might expect, each of the bedrooms is resolutely different. Each has a seperate theme, but all are decked out to exacting standards. All rooms boast either a power shower or a deep, inviting bath (one has a bath once owned by the Kennedy clan). Expect organic cotton sheets, white fluffy towels - and even a hot water bottle if it's chilly! All have TV with remote.
First floor rooms
Principle Room
The Principle Room boasts a canopied four poster king-size bed and a unique bath (rumoured to have been found behind Buckingham Palace). Indeed, the room has a luxurious feel with twist: a chaise longe, wardrobe, large chest drawers, sorrel curtains and marble-topped side tables complement a daring golden leoparskin wallpaper. The taps in the bathroom are similarly gold plated. The Principle room overlooks the renaissance garden and fountain.
Parisian Room
Overlooking front of the house the Parisian Room is all creams and blues and derives its inspiration from 20s Paris. Overlooking the gravel drive, the room has marbled topped tables, two easy chairs, modern japanse bedside tables and large full size mirrors. An Indian bed throw with crewel-needlework completes the melange. King size bed can be separated into two singles; En-suite bath with shower over bath;
Garden Room
The garden room is classically styled with a stand-alone roll-top bath, a large gold mirror and a wrought iron double bed. A blend of creams and whites, Edwardian wardrobe and bedside tables. With views over the main garden and into the Devon hills beyond,

The Peacock room is an elegant melange of styles - unique japanese style wallpaper with blue details of small birds, sits alongside the Edwardian elegance of a large gentleman's wardrobe with matching regency marble topped dressing table, art-nouveau lamps and a large ornate gold plated mirror. The room has a small double bed, an en suite shower and overlooks the main drive.
Top floor rooms
Princess room
The Princess room boasts a spectacular orange/cream canopy over its queen-sized bed, blue velvet easy chairs and gold silk curtains. Here we find an eastern influence - as well as the huge swathes of fabric covering the bed, there are persian rugs, gold silk curtains, copper-topped tables and cashmere throws. The bathroom is Victorian gentlemen's style, large and white, with a washstand with marble topping, overhead shower and a bath.
White rom
With large mirrors, curtains and pelmets of white silk and marble tiles in the bathroom the White Room is, as you might expect, pure white. JW Waterhouse prints as well as the artist owner's nude photographs adorn the walls and there's also a king-sized bed, ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath. The room overlooks the renaissance garden and the croquet pitch.
Bunk room
The Bunk room was created with children in mind and contains three single beds. The room overlooks the courtyard and is decorated in a fun circus theme of pinks and greens and yellows.
Cherry room
The Cherry Room has a queen sized bed, an en-suite shower and overlooks the Rectory's lawns and gardens. With maroon pelmets & curtains of gold silk it's another eastern-styled room, and is decorated with photograhs of nudes, unique glass-studded bedside cabinets and a terracotta bathroom of marble and sandstone tiles.

Situated within the walled garden, the Studio is a self-contained unit accommating up to four people. The ground floor sleeps two in a king sized bed, and has an en-suite bathroom and dining table. A spiral staricase leads to the maisonette with its king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom. The Studio also has secluded balcony with own roll top bath and running hot water.
