Wonders of the World

(EGYPT)

Next holiday: October 25th, £495

While traditional retreats are for more serious-minded yogis and yoginis, we believe that a yoga holiday should be just that - a holiday. Our ten-day yoga holiday takes us from Cairo in Egypt to the diving town of Dahab on the Red Sea, offering exciting opportunities to visit the pyramids, shop, ascend Mount Sinai, to try scuba diving and a variety of holistic therapies. All this plus plenty of relaxing on the Red Sea's wonderful beaches.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive in Cairo
Meet our tour leader and yoga instructors at our Cairo accommodation, the Mena House hotel.

Day 2 - In Cairo
An early morning yoga session in the beautiful Mena House gardens watching the dawn light upon Cheop's great pyramid. Then we visit the pyramids and the Sphinx before the driving into town to Egypt's magnificent Antiquities Museum, home to Tutanhkamun's gold. Later this afternoon we'll do some shopping in Cairo's 'Oxford Street' and the bazaars of the Old City.

Day 3 - Travel to Moon Beach
A morning yoga session before leaving Cairo. At lunchtime we arrive at Moon Beach by the azure Red Sea where we stay for the next two nights. Here we relax by the Gulf of Suez and perhaps see dolphins from our bar on the beach. Evening yoga session by the sea.

Day 4 - By the Red Sea at Moon Beach
Early morning yoga session followed by a full day's relaxation. If you're feeling energetic you can try your hand at windsurfing - or just soak up the sun. Evening yoga session by the sea.

Day 5 - Travel to Mount Sinai
Sunrise yoga session before travelling into the lunar landscape of the biblical Mount Sinai where the Ten Commandments were revealed to Moses. A gentle climb halfway to the summit with our Bedouin guides and camels is followed by a night under the stars in a sheltered nook on the mountain, weather permitting. Evening yoga session in the mountains.

Day 6 - Sunrise over Mount Sinai, to Dahab.
Ascent to the summit before a morning yoga class as the sun rises over the Sinai. Then we walk down the mountain (you can take a camel if you wish!) to visit St Catherine's Monastery, home of Moses' Burning Bush. Later we cross the desert to Dahab, our home for the next three days. Evening yoga session overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba.

Day 7,8,9 - In Dahab.
Dahab is a charming and unspoilt seaside town that sits on the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba. Formerly an oasis and meeting point for local Bedouins, today the palm trees cast shade over a host of small beachfront restaurants and shops that look out over the azure sea. As well as twice daily yoga there's an opportunity to try scuba diving, holistic therapies, excursions into the desert or just to snorkel, shop, and relax on the beach.
