FAQs about our yoga holidays

Frequently asked questions about our yoga holidays:

What’s included and what’s not?
All yoga classes and accomodation are provided, while flights and optional activies are not.

Which levels of yoga are catered for?
We cater for all levels of student: previous Yoga Travel clients range from those with no experience whatsoever to those with over 20 years experience. While our yoga holidays are just that – a holiday – you are always offered something to learn: whether it be more advanced options for postures, new breathing techniques or perhaps an introduction to meditation.

I’ve never done Yoga before. How will I keep up?
Yoga is a practice of self-discovery, not a competition. The classes are run with modifications for beginners and challenges for more advanced students. The atmosphere is light and fun not overly serious.

How do I get picked up from the airport?
Let us know your flight details and we’ll arrange for you to be met at the arrivals gate.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
Yes, although soft carpets are cheaply available to buy if you like.

How much money will I need?
You’ll need some extra money to cover meals not included in the tour price, other sightseeing, shopping, souvenirs and optional extras. A rough guide to the costs of optional extras are found on the relevant pages:.
EGYPT
MOROCCO
THAILAND

TURKEY

How many people will be on the trip?
We have a maximum of 17 people per trip. Everyone who enjoys travel will appreciate the great feelings of freedom and personal fulfilment such trips inspire.

What sort of places do we stay at?
Our aim is to look for high quality places with great atmosphere; generally three to five star hotels. We also look for locally-owned accomodation: both the hotels we use in Dahab, for instance, are Bedouin owned.

What is the single room option?
Most of our accomodation is in shared twin rooms. However, although not included in the selling price of the tour, the option of paying for a single room is available. Please contact our office for prices and availability on 01579 320 547 or info@yogatravel.co.uk.

What about food?
We usually arrange accommodation on the basis of bed and breakfast or half-board, allowing you to sample the cuisine in local restaurants.

Do I need travel insurance?
Travel insurance is compulsory for all bookings. Your insurance policy document is as important as your passport and should be carried with you on tour. Please ensure that you take your policy document (or a copy of the actual policy document) with you, as your tour leader will ask to see this at the start of the trip. Your documentation must show evidence that you are the named policy-holder and that the cover is valid for your period of travel. The documentation must also indicate that you have cover for at least Medical Expenses and Emergency Repatriation. Please ensure that a 24-hour contact telephone number for your Insurance Company is stated on your documentation in case of Emergency.

Do I need a visa?
All British passengers require a passport valid for at least six months after your return. In Egypt the best route is to purchase a visa on arrival – they’re easily available at both Cairo and Sharm el Sheik airport on arrival and cost around £15. In Morocco visas are free and are readily available at Marrakech airport. The same applies in Thailand. In Turkey visas are available on arrival and cost roughly the equivalent of £10.

.And what about vaccinations?
At the time of going to press there are no compulsory inoculation or vaccination requirements for entry into Egypt, Turkey, Morocco or Thailand. However, your GP or pharmacist will be able to tell you which vaccinations are currently recommended by the Department of Health and you should contact your doctor at least 8 weeks before departure. For more information on the subject of vaccinations and protection, check out www.fitfortravel.scot.nhs.uk.

Is it safe?
Our criteria regarding international instability are simple: we follow the UK Foreign Office’s advice instantly and to the letter. The UK Foreign & Commonwealth Travel Advice Unit issues information advice to inform travellers about certain destinations. If you’re concerned about a destination or your safety, you can check this information before you travel at:Know Before You Go www.fco.gov.uk/knowbeforeyougoUK Foreign Office

What sort of environmental considerations do you cover?
Yoga Travel pays for the emissions of your flight to be ‘balanced out’. This involves planting trees which – over their lifetimes – will absorb the equivalent amount of Carbon Dioxide produced by your flight.
