Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Dahab
Arrive at our Dahab accommodation.

Day 2 - Exploring the desert
As well as year-round sun and warm seas, Dahab sits on the edge of the Sinai desert, a landscape of desolate valleys and barren peaks. After morning yoga there’s we offer an introductory walk to explore this lovely town; later we offer a short desert walk followed by yoga in the utter stillness of this spectral land (optional). After class we’ll have dinner in a Bedouin tent before returning to town as the sun sets.

Day 3 - Travel to Mount Sinai (optional)
An early start to the barren landscapes of the interior. After visiting St Katherine's Monastery we ascend Mount Sinai via a little-known path for a gentle class in Elijah’s Hollow, reputedly where Elijah, Moses’ assistant, cowered as the Ten Commandments were revealed between thunder and lightening bursts. We climb to the summit for sunset before descending and returning to Dahab.

Day 4 & 5– Discovering the Red Sea
The Red Sea is home to some of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet . As well as scuba diving there’s the chance to snorkel , windsurf, kite-surf or free-dive: all levels are catered for – from experienced divers to first-time paddlers. Apart twice daily yoga classes you’re free to try whatever you fancy – your group leader can arrange whatever you like.

Day 6 & 7 – Relax in Dahab
An oasis by the sea, Dahab was first discovered in the 70s and quickly gained a reputation as a laid back idyll. Later it developed into a diving centre and today it retains its relaxed atmosphere. After morning yoga you’re free to explore the many waterside cafes and restaurants, kick back for a fruit cocktail or two, try the local fish, or just improve your suntan. As well as yoga and meditation, you can have a massage, visit a Turkish bath, or simply relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Day 8 – tour ends, optional Desert Extension begins (see below)

DESERT EXTENSION
An optional 3-day extension to explore Sinai's vast deserts - before heading to an isolated, hidden beach. Starts on Day 8 of our Red Sea Paradise holiday. Non yoga.

Day 8 – Meet our Bedouin Guides
Leaving Dahab we journey to meet our Bedouin guides, tribesmen whose families have lived here for centuries. Expert cooks and trail finders, these tribesmen show us sand dunes, canyons and sand blasted mountains before setting up our overnight camp under the stars.

Day 9 – Exploring the Desert
The Sinai is a vast wilderness untouched since the Israelites passed through in 2500 BC. Today we visit a Bedouin settlement and experience the endless peace of the desert plains. Our guides provide fire-baked bread and delicious vegetarian stews before we bed down by the fire for the night.

Day 10 – Return to the Coast
While the Red Sea has experienced extensive development, some secret gems remain. Big Duna is such a place: a tiny coastal camp set on sand dunes rolling into the sea. With its own secluded bay and reefs, the simple palm huts of Big Duna are the perfect ending to this very special holiday.

You'll need warm clothing for Mount Sinai; otherwise Egyptian weather is generally warm all year round. Beachwear on the Red Sea is just as that on the Mediterranean.

Egypt can be hot: don't forget sunblock, sunglasses, a hat and a sarong. Scarves are great for keeping off the sun and any light chills at night. Lightweight walking shoes or boots are ideal for Mount Sinai and the desert; otherwise sandals and/or flip-flops are good for the beach. You'll also need a light daysac and a torch if you'd like to climb Mount Sinai.
